Biography

Ms. Stewart graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After study at Howard, she earned a graduate degree from George Washington University in Museum Education. She has worked as an educator and curator for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, the National Museum of African Art, as well as the Phillip’s Collection. Ms. Stewart is the Museum Studies department founding chair and director of the Ellington Gallery. She is the recipient of grants from the Smithsonian Institution, the National Endowment of Arts, the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
